Whale Watching

Our whale obsessed boy wanted to go whale watching. Victor gets sea sick, so this was a Mommy and Noah only outing. Noah was super excited as he has been very focused on whales lately. We had a 1:00 trip out of Monterey Bay.

Noah was very active on the ride out to where the whales are found.

Unfortunately, he saw this one whale from afar and then...

he promptly fell asleep. Combine missing his nap and a soothing rocking motion, and you'll get a sleepy sleepy boy.

We spent the majority of the ride inside the cabin, Noah sleeping and Olivia peering through heads to see whales.

Towards the end, a whale came very close to the boat and one of the naturalists told me to go out and watch and he'd keep an eye on Noah.

 And he still slept.

He woke up as we were coming back in to harbor. Here he is looking at the jellyfish in the water.

Here's a big sea lion who found a squid.

Yum! Squid guts!

We had a great time poking around on the pier before heading back home.

All in all, Olivia saw about 20 humpback whales, plenty of sea birds, plenty of sea lions, a few harbor seals, and even a sea otter. Noah saw 1 whale and a few of the other things, but he can't wait to go back. He wants to go when the Orcas come through. We'll have to see!
