Pizza Night!

 We went to Zachary's for pizza the other night.

 

 Noah said the pizza was VERY cheesy!

Samantha is too young to understand the deliciousness that is Zachary's pizza. Just wait, my child. Just wait.

Library Card

We decided that with Noah finishing up Preschool and getting ready for Kindergarten, it was time for him to get his own library card.

 

He signed his name.

And did a pretty decent job of writing so small that he could fit it on the little line.

Then picked out some books.

Then scanned them all to check them out all on his own.

His ridiculous fake smile, but he was very proud of his new card. He says that now he can go to the library all by himself! Hmm...

What a Great Pair

They love each other.

 Noah had a dentist appointment.

Olivia pumped a bottle just so Noah could feed her. He was so proud!

 She thinks Noah's new car seat is the perfect place to rest.

 She's such a good sleeper. At about 5.5 weeks, she started sleeping 7+ hours at night on a fairly regular basis. It's wonderful. In this picture, she fell asleep nursing and Olivia set her down on the couch where she promptly made herself cozy and fell back asleep again.

 She was completely unimpressed with her first cloth diaper. We're happy to not be buying disposables, though. Those things are pricey!

She has decided that she likes the pacifier. She has a really strong urge to suck and just can't consistently get her thumb into her mouth. Noah was always happy to nurse for comfort, but Samantha won't have that. When she wants to eat, she nurses, but if Olivia attempts to nurse her when she isn't hungry, she'll just suck and let the milk fall out of her mouth, clamp down really hard to stop the flow of milk, or she'll pull away and cry. The pacifier makes everyone happier.

Rosie the Riveter

While Grandpa was visiting, we went out to Point Richmond to visit the Rosie the Riveter National Historic Park. We poked around the visitor's center a bit, but then headed out to where Noah really wanted to go...the SS Red Oak Victory.

 The tour guides said that at 5 weeks, Samantha was their youngest visitor ever! You can see her knee just below Victor's elbow. She was wholly unimpressed with the visit.

 One of the 8 large anti aircraft guns on the deck of the ship. The Red Oak Victory was a supply ship in World War II that carried bombs and ammunition to ships in the Pacific. I can't imagine being out on deck manning one of those guns with planes flying over shooting and bombing. Those were some brave men!

It was a really interesting tour and a great way to spend Memorial Day weekend.

Grandpa Robert Came to Visit

Grandpa wanted to meet his new granddaughter, so he came to visit us the last weekend in May.

 Noah thought Sam needed a snuggle friend.

Noah had one goal for Grandpa's visit and that was to go fishing, so we headed out to Lafayette Reservoir.

 They almost caught a large bass, but when they got it out of the water, the line broke and it got away. It's ok, they were planning to throw back whatever they caught anyway. It was the fun of trying that really mattered.

Noah liked the astronaut ice cream that Grandpa brought. All in all, everyone had a fun visit.
